Venice Day 4 - "Last Full Day"

Last full day in Venice - tomorrow we travel via Naples to Paestum on the Cilento Coast.

First stop - the Basilica di Santa Maria - very beautiful and impressive.

Bit of a rainy day today - took a stroll to find some lunch and had a lovely meal sat outside by the canal - drank wine and watched the world go by.

St Mark's Square and the Doge's Palace next - it was really busy and it was a little confusing about where to queue for what - but overall not too bad - we went up the tower - this didn't cost much and we queued for about half hour but it was so worth it for the amazing views when you got to the top.

To put the icing on the cake, we had a phone call from our daughter while we were at the top to tell us she has been promoted - brilliant news - we never doubted it for a minute - proud as punch!  Also had a lovely update on our little Tilly (our Schnoodle).

We didn't go into St Mark's Basilica but we did go in the Doge's Palace which was amazing

Walked over the Bridge of Sighs - this is the bridge the prisoners walked over on the way to jail and sighed at their last glimpse of Venice -

These are views looking out from inside the bridge -

And then on to the jail - might leave him locked up in there lol!

Really enjoyed the Doge's Palace - one last glimpse of the Bridge of Sighs as we left -

Great day - once again we have walked miles and now time to watch England play in the semi-final - sadly they lost - which didn't end the day well for Paul.  Oh well, best go to our fave local bar and drown our sorrows - seeing as it's our last night in Venice.

Thanks for checking out my blog.

Off on the next bit of the adventure tomorrow - will be sad to leave Venice but excited too.
